Joy K. Richardson, born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, did not have your typical childhood. Determined not to become a product of her environment, she wanted a better life and knew that it awaited her if she worked hard. Steadfast in her goal, after many years, it has consequently paid off. The owner and CEO of Room 226, Inc., a corporation that provides books, clothing and accessories, and toys with the purpose of teaching and inspiring children to want to learn, Joy is raising the bar in the children's literary world. From tutoring to working at a daycare, and later becoming the owner and director of Joy to the World Daycare in Chicago, IL. Joy has an extensive background in children's education. She also ventured into the entertainment industry with a background in acting and modeling. Through her experiences, she realized the need for expanding the way in which children learn, and it is her aim to achieve this utilizing non-traditional channels. As an author and entrepreneur, she is deeply devoted to helping others. Her motto, “I will change the world one life at a time,” is evident with the development of her six-series book collection entitled “A Helping Hand” which is geared toward interaction between parent and child. It helps parents to address challenging subjects from a child's point of view. The series is inspirational and multicultural with the goal to bring all children together. Attending Kennedy-King College in Chicago, IL and Kaplan University, Joy studied child development, child psychology and business management. She currently resides in South Korea where she is continuing her efforts in making a difference by teaching children.
